Chemicals are scary, and chemicals contained in the skin care products you spread all over your body are even scarier. Your skin is the largest organ on your body, and you can and do ingest chemicals through your skin. What does this mean for you? That if you use toxic skin care products, you are going to get those into your bloodstream. No way around that. That alone could be scary fact number one, but that's not even on the list. Are you scared yet? Go on and keep reading there's more.

The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) found that there are 884 chemicals used in the kind of personal skin care products and cosmetics you buy every day are toxic. Skin, since it is the largest organ in or on the body, is a more significant gateway for toxins entered the body than the digestive system. Think about that. 884 chemicals, combined with the limited square footage you have on your body, means that you are ingesting a pretty high number of chemicals per square foot.

Now let's look at individual cells. A recent study found up to 500 chemicals present in a single fat cell of a healthy 30-year-old female. That's a lot of toxicity running around your body. Even if you pursue a organic way of life which ensures that whatever you put in to your body is organic and non toxic, which ends up creating a detoxifying effect by definition, you are keeping that from being as effective as it could be. You are just ingesting too much too fast from the outside for the inside to be that much help.

This is where certified organic skin care products come in handy. Buying organic is good, buying certified organic is better. Certified organic means that this skin care product had to pass a tough test to get that label. By choosing organic personal care products, we can protect ourselves from the toxins entering through the skin. The added benefit of organic products is the fact that the ingredients have been produced in an environmentally friendly manner, which has to make you feel good.

You want to do what you can to protect yourself, protect your family and protect your environment. You can do all that by just making sure you only purchase certified organic skin care products. When you do this, your whole life gets a lot less scary.
